Oxygen Bleach Powder
Oxygen bleach, primarily composed of sodium percarbonate, is a versatile and eco-friendly cleaning agent. When dissolved in water, sodium percarbonate breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and soda ash, two effective and environmentally friendly cleaning compounds.
Cleaning and Household Uses (Recipes Below)
- Laundry Booster: Oxygen bleach is a champion at removing tough stains from fabrics without the harsh effects of chlorine bleach. It brightens whites, revives colors, and can be used in both white and colored laundry loads.
- Surface Cleaner: Mixed with water, it forms a potent cleaning solution ideal for tiles, grout, sinks, and countertops, efficiently tackling stains, mold, and mildew.
- Deck and Patio Cleaner: Its powerful stain-removing and brightening properties make it suitable for cleaning and rejuvenating outdoor wooden decks, patios, and even garden furniture.
- Carpet Cleaner: Oxygen bleach can be used to treat and remove stubborn carpet stains and odors, always considering the carpet's material and colorfastness.
- Water Treatment: In pools and spas, sodium percarbonate serves as an alternative to chlorine treatments, helping to keep water clear and sanitized.
Oxygen bleach stands out for its environmentally conscious profile. Unlike chlorine bleach, it breaks down into harmless compounds, ensuring it doesn't contribute to harmful residues in water systems.
- Safe Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from children and pets.
- Patch Test: For fabrics or surfaces, it's recommended to perform a patch test to ensure colorfastness and compatibility.
- Avoid Mixing: Never mix oxygen bleach with ammonia or chlorine bleach as it can produce harmful gases.
